Senator Pat Browne, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman for the 2017-18 Legislative Session and Co-Chair of the bi-partisan, bicameral Early Childhood Education Caucus spoke at the Commission’s 10th Anniversary Early Learning Economic Summit reflecting on 10 years of progress in early learning investments, even during times of financial stress in the state budget.
Browne highlighted the fact that Pennsylvania’s investment in PreK, Head Start, and Home Visiting have grown by 95% since 2008, compared to an increase in overall State spending of just 15%. He commended the Commission and all the advocacy groups for their work and continued by saying he’s hopeful that real progress can continue in the years to come.
“We know what the solution is and the more we do this, the more we expand on what we’re doing, the more that we expand on the success we’ve had over the last ten years… we will soon be able to look through the eyes of every Pennsylvania child and see hope.”
