Clive Belfield is a Professor of Economics at Queens College, City University of New York, and Principal Economist at the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. He recently spoke at the 2019 Early Learning Economic Summit and presented new data from the report titled, “Growing Tomorrow’s Economy Means Investing in Child Care Today.”

His research on the economics of education has addressed a range of topics, including the economic value of early education; the labor market returns to community college; and the value of social and emotional learning. He has published over 75 journal articles and three books on the Economics of Education. His most recent book is “Economic Evaluation for Education: Benefit-Cost Analysis and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis” (Russell Sage, 2018).
